India Trip Bridgetown
Coffee’s owners Sue & Don Jensen were
provided an opportunity again to visit, evaluate,
assist, and work with another exciting source
of great green beans. All of us know the interesting
history of India. Pictures of the Taj Mahal, tigers,
political leader Gandhi, cattle walking around
every place, King Cobra snakes, tea plantations,
and lots of people all pop into mind. However,
there is another story to be told one that has
been little heard of, The Story of Indian Coffee.
This is the story through Sue and Don’s
eyes. |

were extended an invitation to be apart of the Eastern
African Fine Coffee Association’s (EAFCA)
1st ever conference held in Nairobi, Kenya. Don
will be the lead judge of the “cupping contest”
for the best African coffees submitted by 9 growing
countries. Also he will be making a presentation
on what “roasters in the USA are looking for
in Quality coffees”. Exciting and new coffees
will be reviewed, and evaluated which very few roasters
in the USA get the opportunity to purchase. Look
more from Don & Sue in the near future about
this trip. |

Arriving is San Palo, Brazil they became part of 20 individuals invited from around the world to visit Patrocinio and the surrounding growing comminutes to cup the best 130 coffees. We all know Brazil is the largest grower of coffee in world and has mechanized and streamlined the picking and processing of their coffee to produce a higher quality. This very large cooperative (3,000 growers) export their coffee mainly to Italy but the Jensen’s were able to procure some of the best Cerrado coffee for their customers. Don mentioned it was “extremely exciting to be part of this ensemble of Japanese, Europeans, and American roasters and compare notes as to what is the best character of Brazilian coffees”.
